	Pocketalker® THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! You truly made my mom's 91st birthday celebration divine! She received the Pocketalker® ear phone apparatus today and she could actually HEAR all her many friends' good birthday wishes. Being really sharp in mind, Esther's loss of hearing and the inability to use hearing aids due to the constant noise ringing, is really difficult for her and our family. Esther is very active, including still baking chocolate chip cookies and telling friends she'd really like to do their ironing for them...retirement is NOT a good thing, according to Esther. 	Pocketalker® My mother is a bright 98 1/2 year old lady, who, for the most part, is a hearing aid failure. About 2 months ago, we were at her doctor, and when she didn't hear him well, he went and got her a Pocketalker® Pro to use during the office visit. The next morning I bought her one at the Speech, Hearing and Deaf Center on Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh, PA. This product is a miracle for my mother. We can have conversations with her, and for the first time in many years, she can watch television with the sound at a comfortable level for her, and a normal level for the rest of us! When our daughter visited her last week, my mother said, "Andrea has become so much more communicative." Andrea agreed that she has become more communicative, because now she can communicate with her grandmother! 	Pocketalker® Thanks, Just a note, it is so good to have them [new headphones]...Wilbur just went into the hospital with a broken hip, (last night from a fall at the nursing home) and it is helping him communicate with the doctors...If you ever need a PR hipe about that wonderful Pocketalker®, let me know. More people should know about them, in my opinion, as hearing aids are not useful for a large number of elders...they lose them, can't handle the small size, etc. It has made my father's connection with people possible when it would not otherwise have been possible. 	Pocketalker® I wanted to tell you about my experience with Pocketalker® and my 87 year-old mother, who has advanced Alzheimer's disease. She lives in a 24-hour dementia care facility, and I have seen the problems that they have keeping hearing aids in residents' ears. The Pocketalker® offers such a superior alternative, in my opinion. First of all, it is completely affordable, especially compared to the cost of a hearing aid. With the high price of my mom's care, this in itself has been a tremendous advantage. Most importantly, however, it has changed my mother's life, bringing her "back into the world." People with late AZ have enough trouble just decoding the words you are saying to them. When they also can't hear the words clearly, they can become completely isolated. Besides improving the quality of care for my mom, the Pocketalker® has also really increased the quality of her life. When I received the replacement Pocketalker® in the mail yesterday I immediately went to where my mom lives to put it back on her. It was an incredible moment. There was "Big Band" music playing in the background, and after I placed the headphones over her ears I asked, "There, is that better?" Her face lit up. "Yes!" she said, with a big smile, the first intelligible word she had uttered in a couple of weeks. I also noticed that, within about 20 minutes, she was making many more attempts to speak to me than she had without the Pocketalker®. Her speech my not be intelligible most of the time, but she still feels happy, engaged, and part of the world again. I don't know what the statistics are on hearing loss and aging, but I suspect that there is pretty high correlation. When you throw in dementia, it really becomes a problem. I wish that more families knew about the Pocketalker® as an affordable and easy to use amplification system for their loved ones. No doctor visit or prescription required. Just turn it on and witness the joy. I hope this testimonial to your wonderful product is helpful to other families who are struggling with Alzheimer's and hearing loss. 	Pocketalker® My 83-year-old Dad died on May 7. That isn't what this message is about. I'm writing you to tell you how a Pocketalker® Pro helped my family to reconnect with my Dad during his final ten days. Dad had suffered from both vision and hearing loss during his last years---and was too vain to wear a hearing aid---so it meant that he had spent quite a bit of time "in his own shell," since yelling loud enough for him to hear was aggravating both for him and us. During the last three weeks of his life, Dad was hospitalized, and then in a hospice. While in Fairview Ridges hospital, a social worker mentioned her disappointment at being unable to locate their Pocketalker®, since it was so hard to communicate with my Dad. I immediately set out to find and purchase a Pocketalker®, and the folks at Harris Communications were extremely helpful in filling my telephone order in just a few hours, so that I could drive to Eden Prairie and pick up my treasured Pocketalker®. I couldn't wait to get to the hospital that evening, to see if it allowed us to communicate with my Dad. It was magic! Dad could easily hear us through the headphones - and only at Volume Level 2. That wonderful little Pocketalker® allowed us to have many quality conversations with Dad during his last 10 days or so, and also helped his care givers to better communicate with him. Dad died very early on a Monday morning, and on Saturday afternoon (just 36 hours earlier), he and I had carried on a lengthy conversation that we both enjoyed immensely, and that I will keep in my heart to treasure forever. We got about ten days' use out of the Pocketalker® before Dad died. But that marvelous little device paid for itself in the value we all received during the first five minutes of its use. Our pastor was very intrigued by the story, and I'm keeping the Pocketalker® and possible intending to offer it on loan to our pastor if he ever needs to communicate with another person experiencing hearing loss. I'm telling everyone I can about the Pocketalker®. It is one great little device, and it meant so much to my family at the end of my Dad's life. 	Pocketalker®/Teletalker™ On January 26th I stopped into your facility to have my father's Teletalker™ serviced. I was very impressed with the kindness I was shown by everyone in the office from the receptionist to the technician. In my conversation with the technician, I explained to him that I had just moved my father into a memory unit in Eden Prairie a few days before. My dad has significant hearing loss and relies heavily on his Teletalker™ to communicate on the phone. I also mentioned that my dad's hearing aids were not working well and that his hearing problems were contributing to his adjustment to his new residence. The technician then demonstrated the Pocketalker® to me. Much to my surprise, he gave the device to me free of charge. The Pocketalker® works well for my dad. He is able to participate effectively in conversations in his new home. We are all still dealing with his dementia and memory loss, but now when he uses the Pocketalker® he can hear so much better. 	Personal FM Thank you for your letter and return of our unit: Transmitter Model T30 and Receiver Model R31, R32. This unit was originally given to us by our son at Christmas 2005. We understood at the time there was a five (5) year warranty on it. It was bought at your store in Rockville, MD. he lives in Potomac, MD. We do not want him to bear any expense in repair - we were just wondering if this warranty was still good. It has been a life-saver for my husband and me as we are 91 and 90 years of age and our hearing is diminished greatly. He is also legally blind due to Macular Degeneration.
